Summary:The invention discloses a method for removing Pb < 2 + >, Hg < 2 + > and other heavy metal toxins from body fluid. The methods involve treating patients with small molecule heavy metal chelating agents to remove these toxins from bone and soft tissue cells into blood or other bodily fluids. The ion exchange composition is then used to exchange the ion of heavy metal toxins from the bodily fluid in vivo or by in vitro treatment such as by dialysis.
