The invention provides a magnetic flocculant as well as a preparation method and application thereof, the preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) carrying out first mixing and first drying on iron tailing slag, a carbon material and alcohol, and calcining in a protective atmosphere to obtain a magnetic core; and (2) carrying out secondary mixing and secondary drying on a solvent, a surfactant, a flocculant and the magnetic core obtained in the step (1) to obtain the magnetic flocculant.
