The invention discloses a BOPP film for food packaging and a preparation method thereof. The BOPP film for food packaging comprises a surface layer, a core layer and an inner layer, the surface layer is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 90-100 parts of co-polypropylene resin and 0.5-3 parts of an anti-blocking agent; 0.5-5 parts of a mildew preventive; the preparation raw material of the core layer is homo-polypropylene resin; the inner layer is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 90-100 parts of co-polypropylene resin and 0.5-3 parts of an anti-blocking agent; and 0.5-5 parts of a mildew preventive. The mildew preventive is selected from a radix fici simplicissimae extract. According to the BOPP thin film for food packaging, the radix fici simplicissimae extract is added into the raw materials for preparing the surface layer and the inner layer of the BOPP thin film, so that the prepared BOPP thin film for food packaging has certain mildew resistance to a
