A tool conveying system having a tool storage unit that does not depend on tool specifications is desired. The tool transport system includes a plurality of machine tools and a tool storage unit having a plurality of holding units. Each of the plurality of holding parts has a common holding mechanism capable of holding any one of the plurality of tool holders. The tool transfer system is further provided with a transfer device for transferring a specified tool holder among the plurality of tool holders housed in the tool housing unit to a specified machine tool among the plurality of machine tools. A first tool holder of the plurality of tool holders has: a common connection mechanism that can be connected to a common holding mechanism; and a first mounting mechanism on which a first tool used in a first machine tool among the plurality of machine tools can be mounted. The second tool holder of the plurality of tool holders has: a common connection mechanism; and a second mounting mechanism on which a second
