By the adoption of the method, the signal generator is arranged at the bottom of the toothbrush, after the bottom of the toothbrush makes contact with the placing face, it is generally considered that tooth cleaning work of a user is completed, at the moment, the controller controls the toothbrush to retract automatically, and it can be effectively avoided that the brush head is exposed in air due to the fact that the user forgets to operate. 本发明公开了一种用于电动牙刷的控制方法包括：接收/获取位于牙刷的底部处的第一信号发生器发出的第一信号；根据所述第一信号控制所述控制所述刷头从使用位置移动至收纳位置。采用上述方法，在牙刷的底部设置信号发生器，当牙刷的底部接触放置面后，一般认为用户的牙齿清洁工作完成，此时，控制器控制牙刷自动缩回，可以有效避免用户因忘记操作而导致刷头暴露于空气中。
