Summary: | The silicon-based electrode forms an interface with a pair of layers that is 1. A thin semi-dielectric layer made of a lithium (Li) compound, such as lithium fluoride LiF, disposed on and adhered to the electrode surface of the silicon-based electrode, and 2. A molten ionic conductive layer containing a lithium salt (lithium salt layer) disposed on the semi-dielectric layer. One or more device layers may be disposed on the layer pair to fabricate a device, such as an energy storage device, such as a battery. The interface has low resistivity, which reduces energy loss and heat generated by the device.
