Summary: | A system for performing a minimally invasive surgery in a work space inside a body cavity of a patient includes a flexible catheter configured to receive a work instrument therethrough. The flexible catheter has a distal workspace expansion system that includes a first flexible element and a second flexible element that are movable from a non-expanded insertion position to an expanded position to form an expansion zone for expanding a workspace inside the body. The first flexible element and the second flexible element are connected at the distal region with a coupling structure. A stabilization member stabilizes the distal portion of the flexible catheter.
