The input device may include a sensing unit configured to detect a movement of the input device; a position determination unit configured to determine a current position of the input device according to the detected movement; a prediction unit configured to predict a current position of the input device; a comparison unit configured to determine a difference between the determined position and the predicted position and whether the difference is greater than a similarity threshold; and a transmission unit configured to transmit the determined position to the receiver device in response to the determined difference being greater than a similarity threshold. The receiver device may include a receiving unit configured to receive the determined current location and a communication unit configured to communicate the received location to the electronic device to control the pointer.
