A method of producing a workpiece is disclosed in which the workpiece is continuously loaded onto two or more machine tools, and in which one or more machining operations are performed to produce one or more features of the workpiece on each machine tool. After machining operations on all of these machine tools, the workpiece is transferred to a common dimensional inspection station. At the common dimension inspection station, dimensions of features of the workpiece produced by the machining operations on the two or more machine tools are measured. Two or more output signals are generated based on results of measuring dimensions of the features, the two or more output signals relating to performance of the two or more machine tools performing the machining operations, respectively.
