Summary:A method of manufacturing a core-sheath structure is disclosed by shaping at least one tow comprising a plurality of filaments to form a strand of at least one shaped filament, and weaving a plurality of strands comprising the strand of at least one shaped filament on a core to form a core-sheath structure comprising a woven sheath surrounding the strand of the core, wherein the strands of the shaped filament are untwisted strands having a twist of less than 1 twist per meter, the cross-sectional aspect ratio of the strands of the shaped filament measured in the warp knitted sheath is at least 3: 1, the thickness of at least a portion of the warp knitted sheath ranges from about 10 to about 200 [mu] m, and the warp knitted sheath comprises synthetic fibers having a tensile strength of greater than 12 cN/dtex.
