Summary:The invention relates to a magnetic resonance coil array (30) of a magnetic resonance system having a distributed cabling by a self-compensating radio frequency choke (10). The magnetic resonance coil array (30) includes a plurality of magnetic resonance receive coils (32), an input-output unit (34), and a plurality of coaxial cables (14) interconnecting the magnetic resonance receive coils (32) with the input-output unit (34). The coaxial cable (14) comprises a self-compensating radio frequency choke (10). The self-compensating radio frequency choke (10) allows replacement of conventional large volume resonant radio frequency traps used in conventional magnetic resonance coil arrays, and allows implementation of distributed cabling. A self-compensating radio frequency choke (10) includes a choke housing (12) having an annular profile and a coaxial cable (14), where the coaxial cable (12) is wound around the choke housing (12) in a self-compensating winding pattern. The self-compensating winding pattern provi
