Provided is a pouch battery including an electrode assembly and a case in which the electrode assembly is sealed and accommodated; the electrode assembly comprises a stacked structure of a sheet-shaped cathode, a sheet-shaped diaphragm and a sheet-shaped anode; the sheet-shaped cathode comprises a positive electrode active material arranged on the current collector; the sheet-shaped anode is a thin conductive sheet, and lithium metal is reversibly deposited on the surface of the sheet-shaped anode during discharging; the sheet-like anode is made of an electrically conductive material other than lithium and has a surface that is substantially free of lithium metal prior to charging of the battery. The pouch battery is flexible and lightweight in design, and provides high power density, making it a suitable alternative to conventional lithium ion primary batteries and thermal batteries in many applications.
