The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing and granulating a raw material A and a raw material B, sequentially preheating and calcining in a rotary kiln, and cooling the calcined product to room temperature to obtain the gamma-C2S carbon sequestration cementing material. The raw material A contains calcium oxide and/or calcium hydroxide, and the raw material B contains silicon dioxide. According to the preparation method disclosed by the invention, the mixing granulation is firstly carried out, then preheating, calcining and cooling are carried out, and the preheating and calcining temperatures and the cooling time are further controlled, so that the prepared gamma-C2S carbon sequestration cementing material has relatively high compressive strength (the highest compressive strength can reach 110.5 MPa) and relatively high purity (the highest purity can reach 90.
