Summary:Devices, systems, and methods for positioning using a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) with a state machine-based positioning engine, and applications thereof are provided. When the device receives a GNSS signal, the device provides a positioning engine to process the GNSS signal and determines a state of the positioning engine based on a GNSS state and a position-speed-time (PVT) state. Specifically, the state of the positioning engine can be switched among at least three states, including a dead reckoning state, a tight coupling state and a loose coupling state. Once the state is determined, the positioning engine may determine a positioning accuracy state based on the state of the positioning engine.
