The invention provides a kerf detection method, a height adjuster and a height adjusting method thereof, which are applied to the technical field of plasma cutting, kerf judgment is performed by detecting the change of an arc voltage value, and the kerf judgment process comprises a first stage and a second stage; the height adjuster comprises a slotting detection module used for executing the slotting detection method. The heightening method comprises the following specific steps: after the heightener enters a first stage, judging whether a condition for entering a second stage is met or not, if so, closing heightening, and if not, entering a normal heightening following state; after entering the second stage, judging whether a condition for entering a third stage is met, if so, reducing the heightening sensitivity, and if not, entering a normal heightening following state; and after entering the third stage, judging whether a condition for ending the third stage is met, if so, entering a normal heightening f
