The invention discloses a transformer fault diagnosis method and equipment based on gas chromatographic analysis, and the method comprises the steps: collecting an oil sample of an equipment transformer, and carrying out the preset detection of the oil sample, so as to obtain characteristic parameters; judging whether a large amount of characteristic gas exists in the oil sample or not according to the flash opening closed point decrement, the equipment characteristic parameters and a first equipment fault analysis table, if the large amount of characteristic gas exists in the oil sample, obtaining the content of the characteristic gas, and determining the state of the transformer according to the gas content of equipment acetylene and the gas content of equipment hydrogen; and if the transformer is in an abnormal state, substituting the first equipment ratio, the second equipment ratio and the third equipment ratio into the equipment coding rule table to obtain coding values corresponding to the first equipm
