Summary:A dark-field optical system may include a rotating objective assembly having a dark-field objective that collects light from a sample within a light-collecting numerical aperture, where the dark-field objective includes an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture that are symmetrical relative azimuthal with respect to an optical axis; a swivel bearing allowing at least a portion of the dark field objective including the inlet aperture and the outlet aperture to rotate about the optical axis; and a rotation driver that controls a rotation angle of the inlet aperture.
