Summary: | Techniques for estimating the remaining life of a power supply of an implantable medical device (IMD) using a wireless telemetry rate of the IMD are disclosed. For example, the IMD sets a timer indicating a remaining power capacity of the power supply up to a recommended replacement time (RRT) threshold. The IMD determines power consumption of the IMD due to telemetry, and updates the timer indicating the remaining power capacity of the power source based on the power consumption of the IMD due to telemetry. The IMD determines that the power supply has reached the RRT threshold based on expiration of the timer indicating the remaining power capacity of the power supply. In some examples, the IMD may output an indication to an external device that the power supply has reached the RRT threshold and for display to a user.
