Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications. In some aspects, a wireless node may: receive an access request message from a source node using a first carrier to be used by each wireless node in a cluster of wireless nodes of a wireless multi-hop network for routing decision traffic, the cluster including the wireless node and the source node; and transmitting an access response message to the source node using the first carrier, where the access response message indicates a selected routing option in the set of routing options for use by the source node to transmit data communications to the wireless node using the second carrier.
