Abstract | The present invention relates to systems and methods for optical power distribution to a large number of sample wells within an integrated device that can analyze individual molecules and perform nucleic acid sequencing. The integrated device may include: a grating coupler configured to receive a light beam from a light source; and an optical splitter configured to distribute optical power of the grating coupler to a waveguide of the integrated device, the waveguide positioned to couple with the sample well. The output of the grating coupler may vary in one or more dimensions to account for the light intensity distribution of the light source.
