A method for communicating a medical sample with a digital laboratory request from an extraction site to a test laboratory. The method includes checking the availability of a test to be performed on a medical sample at a first test laboratory during a particular time period. If a test cannot be performed at a first test laboratory during a particular time period, laboratory attributes available at a plurality of test laboratories are checked by a plurality of laboratory agent devices communicatively connected by a communication network. A suitable candidate test laboratory may be identified among the plurality of test laboratories based on laboratory attributes of the suitable candidate test laboratory. The identified suitable candidate test laboratory communicates with the first test laboratory with respect to the feasibility of the suitable candidate test laboratory to perform a test on the medical sample.
