The display equipment comprises an image acquisition device which is configured to acquire an original image; the controller is configured to recognize the hand features from the original image and capture a hand image corresponding to the hand features from the original image; when the size of the hand image is smaller than a preset size, acquiring an image processing parameter, and adjusting the hand image according to the image processing parameter to obtain a target hand image; performing gesture detection on the target hand image to obtain a gesture detection result; and when the gesture detection result is matched with the preset gesture, triggering and executing an operation corresponding to the preset gesture. According to the embodiment of the invention, the gesture detection precision is improved.
