The invention relates to an audio system and method for determining an audio filter based on device location. An audio system and a method of determining an audio filter based on a location of an audio device of the audio system are described. The audio system receives an image of an audio device worn by a user, and determines a relative position between an electro-acoustic transducer and an anatomical feature of the user based on the image and a known geometric relationship between a reference on the audio device and the electro-acoustic transducer of the audio device. An audio filter is determined based on the relative position. An audio filter may be applied to the audio input signal to present spatialized sound to the user through the electro-acoustic transducer, or an audio filter may be applied to the microphone input signal to capture the user's speech by the electro-acoustic transducer.
