The method comprises the following steps: accurately weighing a sample in an iodine flask, adding water and potassium iodide to dissolve the potassium iodide, then adding hydrochloric acid and concentrated phosphoric acid until the sample is completely decomposed, titrating with a sodium thiosulfate standard solution until the sample is light yellow, adding a starch indicator, titrating until the solution just becomes colorless from blue, and calculating the mass fraction of available oxygen. The method has the advantages that diluted hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid are used as extracting agents, determination is not interfered, phosphoric acid is selected to mask interference of ferric iron, the combination of hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid has better solubility on manganese-containing ore, determination is simple and rapid,
