The invention discloses a push-pull converter and a driving method thereof, and the push-pull converter comprises a transformer, a first switching tube and a second switching tube which are connected to the primary side of the transformer, a driving circuit, a detection circuit, a dead time control circuit and a logic control circuit. According to the push-pull converter and the driving method thereof, different configurations are carried out on turn-on and turn-off of the first switch tube and the second switch tube of the primary side according to the characteristics of the push-pull converter, so that the efficiency is optimized and improved; the switch-on speed of the first switch tube and the switch-off speed of the second switch tube are high, driving in the switch-off stage is divided into multiple stages of fine control, the driving speed of each stage can be adjusted, and the voltage stress of the first switch tube and the voltage stress of the second switch tube are reduced. The part which does not
