The aerosol-generating device includes a first container containing an aerosol-generating substance, a heater heating the aerosol-generating substance, a second container configured to be rotatable and including a chamber, a rotation detection sensor sensing rotation of the second container, and a controller. The controller determines any one of the chambers as an application chamber through which the aerosol passes based on a signal received from the rotation detection sensor, and determines use of the chamber determined as the application chamber. The heater is heated to a first temperature or higher when the use is equal to or greater than the first reference and less than the second reference, and is heated to a second temperature or higher when the use is equal to or greater than the second reference and less than the third reference.
