Summary:A process for ethylbenzene conversion and xylene isomerization of an alkylaromatics feed mixture is described. In a C8 aromatic hydrocarbon isomerization zone, a C8 alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon feed mixture may be contacted in succession with two catalyst beds in the liquid phase. The first catalyst comprises a passivated zeolite for the conversion of ethylbenzene, the passivated zeolite containing a ten-membered ring channel framework.
