According to the invention, 3, 4-ethylenedithio thiophene is introduced into a main chain of trimethylene dioxythiophene as an embedded unit, and different long-chain alkyl groups are introduced into a thiophene side chain structure by utilizing steric hindrance caused by sulfur atoms and a certain electron withdrawing effect, so that the interaction among molecules is weakened, and the molecular weight is reduced; the polymer is soluble in organic solvents such as methylbenzene and dichloromethane, so that large-area film forming of a polymer solution is facilitated, for example, film forming is performed in a spraying or blade coating manner; the red electrochromic polymer can realize conversion from a red state to a transparent state, has the characteristics of low driving voltage, high optical contrast and high stability, and is suitable for assembly application of electrochromic devices.
