Summary:In order to measure the viewing quality within the viewing field of view of the eye, during a measurement period, a deviation between a gaze position and an associated stimulant position in the stimulant position at which the stimulant to be followed is displayed when the gaze position is detected and a magnitude of the recorded deviation are determined. For each field portion of the map of viewing the field of view, a viewing quality is determined from a viewing quality evaluation of an associated one of the recorded deviations, where the associated stimulant position is located relative to the gaze position such that the associated stimulant position is located at the field portion.
