Summary: | The present invention relates to a method of assessing wound healing efficacy of a population of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). Furthermore, the present invention relates to methods of selecting MSCs for producing a population of stem cells under cGMP conditions, methods of selecting a population of MSCs for producing a population of stem cells for subsequent drug administration. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method of selecting a population of MSCs for generating a main cell bank, as well as a method of identifying tissues suitable as starting material for generating a population of MSCs for pharmaceutical use. The method comprises determining the level of at least two proteins selected from the group consisting of Angiopoietin 1 (Ang-1), Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-Beta), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) secreted into the culture medium by MSC in the culture medium.
