The invention relates to the field of welding of battery cell top covers, in particular to a laser welding system (1) used for sealing and welding a battery cell top cover (2), and the laser welding system (1) comprises a laser emitting device (11) used for generating a scanning welding laser beam irradiating a to-be-welded part of the battery cell top cover (2); the control device (12) is at least used for controlling the laser emitting device (11) to carry out continuous scanning and sealing welding on the battery cell top cover (2), and the laser welding system (1) is configured to complete sealing welding on the battery cell top cover (2) only at one station. The invention further discloses a method for sealing and welding the battery cell top cover (2), and according to the method, the laser welding system (1) is used for conducting continuous scanning and sealing welding on the battery cell top cover (2). According to some embodiments of the invention, the welding speed, the welding quality and the auto
