Summary:Methods and systems are described that enable vehicle route planning based on availability of radar localization objects. A request to navigate to a destination is received, and at least two possible routes to the destination are determined. Availability of radar-located objects for the possible routes is determined, and routes are selected based on the availability of the radar-located objects. Further, the vehicle is localized based on radar detection of the radar localization object while traveling along the route. A radar positioning quality of the positioning is monitored and a determination is made that the radar positioning quality has decreased or will decrease. The route is modified and/or the operation of the radar module is adjusted based on the radar positioning quality degradation.
