Summary: | The invention discloses an application of kynurenic acid in preparation of a medicine for improving HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus-1) related neurocognitive impairment. Tryptophan metabolites comprise kynurenic acid or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of kynurenic acid. According to the application disclosed by the invention, through in-vitro and in-vivo tests, the inventor effectively shows that a specific dose of kynurenic acid can effectively inhibit inflammatory response and apoptosis of nerve cells caused by HIV-1gp120, repair nerve cell injury, relieve brain tissue injury and improve cognitive impairment caused by HAND, so that the kynurenic acid has the effect of remarkably improving HAND symptoms complicated by HIV.
