The invention belongs to the technical field of solanesol extraction, and particularly relates to a method for extracting solanesol from waste and inferior tobacco leaves, which comprises the following steps: (1) washing, drying and crushing the waste and inferior tobacco leaves; (2) carrying out reflux extraction on the pretreated waste tobacco leaves by using 95% ethanol-acetic ether mixed liquor, and filtering to obtain filtrate; repeatedly extracting twice, combining filtrates, and distilling to obtain a waste and inferior tobacco leaf extract; (3) dissolving the waste and inferior tobacco leaf extract with an ethanol solution of potassium hydroxide, and distilling to recover ethanol to obtain a saponification reaction product; (4) extracting the saponification reaction product with petroleum ether, extracting twice, combining extract liquor, performing cold-out crystallization, and filtering to obtain a solanesol crude product; and (5) performing chromatographic separation on the solanesol crude product
