Summary: | A method for controlling operation of a rotating electric machine includes: receiving a commanded torque and a rotational speed of the electric machine via a bandwidth division harmonic compensation regulator (HCR) of a controller; and calculating a dq harmonic compensation current and a dq harmonic compensation voltage for one or more predetermined harmonic orders using the commanded torque and the rotational speed via the HCR in response to the enable condition. The harmonic compensation current and voltage cancel torque and current fluctuations in one or more predetermined harmonic orders. The method may include injecting an acoustic tone at a predetermined harmonic order. The method also includes adding the dq harmonic compensation current and voltage to the dq current and voltage command, respectively, to produce a regulated dq current and voltage command. The regulated dq current and voltage command is then used to control the electric machine.
