Summary: | A method for manufacturing a blade of a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) comprises the steps of: providing or obtaining a base metal in powdered form; mixing a binder with the powdered base metal to form a mixture; performing an injection molding process using the mixture to form a green substrate in the shape of the blade; debonding the green base material to form a semi-green base material which is of a porous structure and is in the shape of the blade; applying a surface treatment slurry to at least a portion of the half substrate, and sintering the surface treated half substrate to form the blade.
