Summary: | A method for controlling the constant-speed travel of a vehicle calculates a target driving force (DPT) on the basis of the difference between a target vehicle speed (VSPT) and a vehicle speed (VSP), sets a target accelerator opening (APOT) on the basis of the target driving force (DPT), sets a shift stage on the basis of a shift map on the basis of the target accelerator opening (APOT) and the presence or absence of traction (travel resistance), and controls the constant-speed travel of the vehicle. In the present invention, a transmission gear is easily set to a low gear (a large gear ratio) at the time of traction (the greater travel resistance), in which target accelerator opening degrees APOT to be referenced are made different depending on the presence or absence of traction (the greater travel resistance), and the target accelerator opening degrees APOT are set to be smaller at the time of traction (the greater travel resistance) for the same target driving force DPT.
