Embodiments include a method for operating a network node in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) that uses one or more polarization modes for serving one or more cells. Such a method includes transmitting an indication of at least one polarization mode configured for use by a first cell of a first NTN to one or more user equipments (UEs). At least one polarization mode may be indicated both explicitly and implicitly in various ways. Such a method further comprises transmitting and/or receiving one or more signals or channels in the first cell according to one or more configured polarization modes comprising the at least one indicated polarization mode.
