Summary: | The invention provides a single pedal driving method for controlling vehicle speed to stop. A controller operates an electric machine to provide a braking torque to a time profile according to a predetermined speed in response to an accelerator pedal release and a speed of a vehicle being less than a threshold, the predetermined speed-to-time profile defines a predetermined duration during which the speed becomes zero and a target speed at each time during the predetermined duration such that, for a given one of the times, the motor increases the braking torque in response to the speed being greater than the target speed, and reducing the braking torque in response to the speed being less than the target speed.
