The present disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, articles, and methods for wireless communication. For example, a user equipment (UE) within a wireless communication system determines one or more performance metrics associated with operation of the UE. Based at least in part on the one or more performance metrics, the UE selects one or more sets of antenna elements from a plurality of sets of antenna elements available for inter-band carrier aggregation communications between the UE and one or more base stations across at least two radio frequency (RF) chains.
