Summary:The invention relates to a transmitter for transmitting a process variable to a programmable logic controller, in which a current of 4-20 mA is fed into a load (1) in a current mode and a signal of 0-10 V is generated in a voltage mode, the transmitter comprises a process value input (2), a current stage (3), a voltage stage (4) and a U/I output (5) for a current or voltage signal, and a U/I control input (6, 6a, 6b) for switching between two modes.
