Summary:A welding method comprises disposing an aluminum-containing workpiece in a region irradiated with laser light, irradiating the workpiece with the laser light, and melting the workpiece at the irradiated portion to perform welding. The laser light is composed of a main beam and a plurality of auxiliary beams, wherein the plurality of auxiliary beams are positioned so as to surround an outer periphery of the main beam. This welding device is provided with a laser device and an optical head for irradiating an aluminum-containing workpiece with laser light outputted from the laser device and melting the workpiece at the irradiated portion to perform welding. The laser light with which the workpiece is irradiated is composed of a main beam and a plurality of auxiliary beams.
