Summary: | A luminous body (3) has a nanoparticle (4) comprising an AgInSe-based compound semiconductor, and a coating film (5) endowed with hydrophilic properties is formed by ultrasonic irradiation on the surface of the nanoparticle (4). The coating film (5) is configured as a double structure comprising a first organic molecule film (6) containing an alkylthiol (9), and a second organic molecule film (7) having a fatty acid (10) as a main component thereof. This luminescent body (3) has a luminescence quantum yield of 10% or greater, preferably 30% or greater, the peak wavelength of luminous intensity thereof is in the range of 650 nm-1,000 nm, and the half-value width delta(H) of the peak wavelength is 100 nm or less.
