Summary:This four- to six-stage rolling mill comprises two work rolls vertically disposed with a plate passing line therebetween, the two work rolls each being provided with at least one backup roll, the rolling mill being characterized in that: the two work rolls have the same axial length and the same shapes of roll necks and are thus replaceable with each other; the two work rolls are configured so that one work roll, that is a first work roll, is not rotationally driven and the other work roll, that is a second work roll, is rotationally driven; and the ratio (L1/Dw1) of the trunk length L1 and the diameter Dw1 of the first work roll satisfies 4.0<=L1/Dw1<=7.0, and the ratio (L2/Dw2) of the trunk length L2 and the diameter Dw2 of the second work roll satisfies 4.0<=L2/Dw2<=7.0. 四辊至六辊轧制机具备隔着轧制线而配置于上侧和下侧的两个工作辊,且相对于上述两个工作辊分别设置有至少一个支撑辊,上述两个工作辊的轴向的长度及辊颈的形状相同,且彼此能够互换,上述两个工作辊构成为,上述两个工作辊中的一方的工作辊即第一工作辊没有被旋转驱动,另一方的工作辊即第二工作辊被旋转驱动,上述第一工作辊的体长L1与直径Dw1之比(L1/Dw1)满足4.0≤L1/Dw1≤7.0,且上述第二工作辊的体长L2与直径Dw2之比(L2/Dw2)满足4.0≤L2/Dw2≤7.0。
