The invention provides a wireless network equipment upgrading method and system. According to the invention, an upgrade server can execute corresponding security plug-in adjustment while notifying the wireless network equipment to perform firmware upgrade according to a difference between a security policy item originally used by the wireless network equipment and a security policy item which can be realized by a new firmware version; therefore, the security policy which can be realized by the updated wireless network equipment is the same as the original security policy, and the problem that the security function of the wireless network equipment is lost or conflicted after being upgraded due to firmware change is avoided. 本申请提供了一种无线网络设备升级方法及系统，可提由升级服务器根据无线网络设备原有使用的安全策略项和新的固件版本能够实现的安全策略项之间的差异，在通知无线网络设备进行固件升级的同时执行相应的安全插件调整，从而使更新后的无线网络设备能够实现的安全策略与原有的安全策略相同，避免了因固件变更导致的升级后产生无线网络设备安全功能缺失或冲突的问题。
