This current sensor detects current flowing through an electrical conductor. The current sensor comprises a core having a hollow part configured so as to allow an electrical conductor to pass therethrough and a coil wrapped around the core. The core essentially has a C shape having a gap connected to the hollow part. The core has a pair of end surfaces that oppose each other across the gap in an opposition direction. The core comprises a plurality of split cores that are joined to each other. Pairs of adjacent split cores from among the plurality of split cores have joining surfaces that are parallel to the opposition direction.
