Exemplary embodiments of the invention relate to a method for transmitting data between a user terminal and another device. The method comprises the step of generating a signal for actuating an electromagnetic functional unit, wherein the electromagnetic functional unit is an actuator of a speaker of the user terminal or wherein the electromagnetic functional unit is an electromagnetic oscillating circuit connected to the user terminal. The method also comprises a step of actuating the electromagnetic functional unit with the generated signal in order to generate a magnetic signal by means of the electromagnetic functional unit, the magnetic signal carrying first data to be transmitted from the user terminal to the other device.
