The invention discloses a fault positioning method and device based on a model, and the method comprises the steps: constructing a customer-service-resource equipment model, wherein the customer-service-resource equipment model records an association topological relation among customers, services and resource equipment; receiving a declaration application request which is triggered by a customer and carries unavailable service data; traversing resource equipment in the customer-service-resource equipment model, and simulating a pre-judgment result about whether the resource equipment is available to the customer and the service in the simulated fault state for any resource equipment; and calculating a matching degree according to the pre-judgment result and the unavailable service data, and positioning the faulty resource equipment according to the calculated matching degree.
