The gypsum-based thermal insulation mortar per cubic meter is prepared from the following raw materials: 60-90 kg of hydrophobic modified expanded perlite, 150-350 kg of gypsum-steel slag composite gel, 1.5-5 kg of a water reducing agent, 0.5-5 kg of a retarder, 0.5-6 kg of a waterproof agent, 1-5 kg of a thickening agent and 130-200 kg of water.
