The invention discloses a preparation method of a DGP substance, which comprises the following steps: acidizing a substrate, carrying out high-temperature cracking under an anaerobic condition, dissolving a cracking product, and carrying out chromatographic separation by adopting a chromatographic column to obtain the DGP substance. The invention also discloses application of the DGP substance obtained by the preparation method in improving the mild and sweet taste characteristic of cigarette smoke in cigarettes. 本发明公开了一种DGP物质的制备方法，包括如下步骤：将底物经酸化处理后，在无氧条件下进行高温裂解，然后将裂解产物溶解，采用色谱柱层析分离，即得到所述的DGP物质。本发明还公开了所述制备方法得到的DGP物质用于卷烟中提高卷烟烟气的温和甜润口感特性的用途。
